How IPTV setup works: the basics in 4 steps
Whatever device you use, the process is almost always the same. The app is only the player; the channels come through your personal login details.
Have your details ready
After you buy or request the free test, you receive your username, password, server URL and an M3U playlist link by e-mail. Keep the e-mail open while you set up.
Install the right app
The device guides below show which app suits your device. Many apps are free to install; some ask for their own licence after a trial period.
Enter your details
Choose "Xtream Codes" (username, password, URL), which is usually the most stable option. Alternatively, add the M3U link as a playlist.
Load the channels and watch
The app loads live TV, films, series and the TV guide. The first time, this can take a minute or two.

How to set up IPTV on a Fire TV Stick
Recommended apps: IPTV Smarters Pro TiviMate
- Allow apps from unknown sourcesSettings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → turn on "Apps from Unknown Sources". If Developer Options is missing, go to "About" and click on the device name seven times.
- Install DownloaderUse the search icon on the home screen to find "Downloader" and install the free app.
- Get the IPTV appIn Downloader, enter the download address of the app you want, for example
tivimate.com, then download and install it. Our support team is happy to send you the address for IPTV Smarters Pro by WhatsApp. - Enter your login detailsOpen the app → choose "Xtream Codes" → enter the username, password and server URL from the e-mail. Tip: the Fire TV remote app on your phone makes typing much easier.
- DoneChannels appear sorted into categories such as "Ireland", "UK" or "Sport". Catch-up and the EPG are available straight away.
How to set up IPTV on Android TV, an Android box or phone
Recommended apps: TiviMate IPTV Smarters Pro
- Get the app from the Play StoreSearch the Google Play Store for "TiviMate" (ideal for TVs and boxes) or "IPTV Smarters Pro" (also for phones) and install it.
- Add a playlistOn first launch choose "Add playlist" → "Xtream Codes" and enter the server URL, username and password.
- Load the channelsThe app loads the channel list and TV guide. Under "Favourites" you can pin RTÉ One, Virgin Media One and TG4 to the top.
How to set up IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV
Recommended apps: IBO Player Smart IPTV
- Install the appOpen your TV's app section (Samsung: Apps in Smart Hub, LG: LG Content Store), search for "IBO Player" or "Smart IPTV" and install it.
- Note the MAC addressStart the app. The MAC address appears on screen (and with IBO Player also a device key). Write both down or take a photo with your phone.
- Add the playlist on the websiteOn your PC or phone, open the app's website, enter the MAC address or device key and add your M3U link from the e-mail.
- Restart the appClose the app on the TV and open it again. The channel list now loads.
How to set up IPTV on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
Recommended apps: GSE Smart IPTV IPTV Smarters Pro
- Get the app from the App StoreSearch the App Store on your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV for "GSE Smart IPTV" or "IPTV Smarters Pro" and install it.
- Add your accessIn GSE Smart IPTV: "Xtream Codes API" → plus sign → enter the server URL, username and password. Alternatively paste the M3U link under "Remote Playlists".
- Start watchingOpen the channel list and away you go. On Apple TV it is worth saving your favourite Irish channels as favourites.
How to set up IPTV on a PC or Mac
Recommended app: VLC media player
- Install VLCDownload VLC free from
videolan.organd install it. - Open a network streamWindows: Media → Open Network Stream (Ctrl+N). Mac: File → Open Network (Cmd+N). Paste your M3U link and click Play.
- Pick a channelSwitch between channels in VLC's playlist. For the EPG and catch-up, an app on your TV is more comfortable.
IPTV Smarters Pro setup in detail
IPTV Smarters Pro is a popular choice because it looks the same on Fire TV Stick, Android, iPhone and many TVs. Here is how to enter your access correctly:
- Choose "Login with Xtream Codes API"This option loads films, series and the TV guide as well as live TV. The M3U playlist option works too, but is usually less convenient.
- Fill in the fields"Any Name": whatever you like, e.g. "Home". "Username" and "Password": exactly as in the e-mail, including capital letters. "URL": the server URL including
http://and the port. - Tap "Add User"The app loads the content. Then choose "Live TV", "Movies" or "Series". You can refresh the EPG manually in the settings if needed.
Setting up IPTV in Ireland: tips for your home network
Most problems after setup have nothing to do with the app and everything to do with the Wi-Fi. In a lot of Irish homes the broadband router sits in the hall by the front door, while the TV is at the far end of the house in the sitting room or kitchen extension. These tips help:
Connect the TV or Android box with a network cable. That gives the most stability, especially in 4K. Powerline adapters or a mesh system help where a cable will not reach.
Allow roughly 10 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K per device. If several people watch at once, add them together. Rural fixed wireless and 4G/5G connections work too if they are stable.

Create lists such as "Irish" (RTÉ, Virgin Media, TG4), "UK" (BBC, ITV, Channel 4) or "Sport" for GAA, rugby and the Premier League. See the Irish channels overview.

How do I set up IPTV on a Fire TV Stick?
Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options and allow apps from unknown sources, install the Downloader app and use it to get IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate. Then enter your login details. It usually takes less than ten minutes.
How do I set up IPTV on a Samsung or LG TV?
Install IBO Player or Smart IPTV from your TV's app store. The app shows a MAC address. Enter that together with your playlist link on the app's website, restart the app on the TV and the channels appear.
What broadband speed do I need for IPTV in Ireland?
About 10 Mbps is enough for HD and around 25 Mbps is recommended for 4K. Most fibre and cable broadband in Ireland handles that easily, and many rural homes on fixed wireless or 4G/5G do too. A stable connection often matters more: where possible, connect the TV or box to the router with a network cable.
What should I do if IPTV does not work after setup?
